OREANDA-NEWS. Metinvest Group's Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol and Mariupol's Job Centre, which provides government funds for retraining, launched a joint program to train Mariupol residents as electric/gas welders or loader operators.

Retraining vouchers were given to workers who were at least 45-years-old and insured by the social insurance fund for no less than 15 years; funding for unemployed residents was fully covered by the social insurance fund.

Two individuals are currently training to be electric/gas welders at the educational department of Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol, while nine are training to be loader operators at the iron and steel furnace repair shop.

“Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol is the first Metinvest asset to start cooperation with a local job centre and workers,” said Yuriy Zinchenko, Ilyich Iron & Steel of Mariupol general director. “Trainings are offered only for those professions that are in demand by the enterprise. Thanks to the new program, workers increase their competitiveness on the labor market and employers increase the engagement of personnel in their work.”
