OREANDA-NEWS. Being a designer and manufacturer of gas turbine machinery, NPO Saturn offers to its customers a wide range of industrial gas turbine engines of low, medium and high power for use at the combined heat and power stations, in the utilities power grids, at the industrial sites as well as at the oil and gas production fields. Among the recent power plants put into operation are the nine GTE-6.3/8RM engines installed at the Gazprom Nadym Production sites, at the Medvezhye field, at the Gazprom transgas Yugors and at the Yamburgskaya compressor station.

At the moment NPO Saturn is in charge of supporting these installations in revenue service. Customer support is an integral part of the NPO Saturn business model in the frame of the Industrial and Marine Engines Division of the company. It allows the customers to have permanent access to technical support of the NPO Saturn-supplied power plants they are operating.

The customers of this equipment are the companies in the gas producing industry and the power generation companies. A feasibility study is launched with relation to supplying this equipment abroad.

To date NPO Saturn has produced around 200 industrial turbines to serve 45 different sites of Gazprom, the power engineering of Surgutneftegaz, TNK-Nyagan, Tomskneft-VNK, Slavneft and municipal power generation companies where the Saturn-made engines are either fully operational already or are completing their installation and commissioning.

The NPO Saturn customer support directorate (CSD) was established in 2006. At the moment, besides honoring the warranty-stipulated obligations, one of the directorate's main vectors of activity is the performing of maintenance tasks at the customer locations under the existing contracts comprising the entry into service, installation and commissioning of the NPO Saturn-supplied product.

The CSD carries out both analytical and organizational work such as the gathering and analyzing of the data about the operated fleet as well as the organization and coordination of the on-time delivery of spare parts needed to sustain the power plants in service.

The CSD is equipped with the state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment (Olympus and Everest beamguides, engine vibration performance and laser centering systems). Through rigorous training, the CSD technicians constantly acquire the new knowledge on how to perform the newly designed maintenance tasks and operate new equipment allowing to assess the engine condition and determine whether an engine is still within its serviceable limits.

According to Pavel Fetisov, NPO Saturn deputy CEO for industrial and marine engine programs, “our Customer Support Directorate is constantly improving its commercial performance. In 2013 the CSD-generated revenue is forecast at the level of 25-30 Russian rubles. In the company's nearest plans is to get to the revenue level exceeding 100 million rubles generated by this activity.”
