OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' chemical company OAO Grodno Azot manufactured Br6.552 trillion worth of chemical products (USD 725.591 million) in January-August 2013, up 16.9% on the year, the company said in an official report posted on the company's web site.

In August 2013 commodity output grew 15% on the year to Br770.969 billion (USD 85.379 million).

OAO Grodno Azot decreased mineral fertilizer production 4.7% on the year in January-August 2013 to 494,554 tonnes (in terms of 100% nitrogen). In August alone nitrogen fertilizer output increased 3.9% on the year to 66,135 tonnes; carbamide output decreased 8.4% to 606,806 tonnes (August - down 3.1% to 88,706 tonnes).

Grodno Azot increased output of ammonium sulphate by 7.3% in January-August 2013 up to 271,830 tonnes; nitrosol - 523,236 tonnes (down 1.5%); ammonia - 668,807 tonnes (down 6%), sulphuric acid - 180,616 tonnes (up 2.3%); caprolactam - 87,861 tonnes (up 4.7%); chemical fibres - 26,964 tonnes (down 10.1%).

Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake.

Grodno Azot is Belarus' main producer of liquid ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, methanol, caprolactam, biodiesel fuel.
