OREANDA-NEWS. KfW resolutely refutes the allegation that it is involved in financing nuclear weapons. Financing of this sort would conflict with both its legal mandate and its business principles.

The “Don't bank on the bomb” report by the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons ICAN and IKV Pax Christi, October 2013, makes such an allegation and supports this claim by stating that KfW has general business relationships with companies that these organisations consider to be associated with the production of nuclear weapons - namely aeronautical and aerospace companies.

Under its legal mandate, KfW finances the projects and exports of German and European companies. These have always included aeronautical and aerospace companies, with KfW having provided financing for aircraft and aircraft components such as engines. However, its financing has nothing whatsoever to do with nuclear weapons.
