OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 October around 9,000 employees from across SCM Group are going to plant trees in almost 50 towns they live in.

SCM Group has been widely promoting the development of volunteering at its businesses since 2013. The traditional initiatives (Clean-Up Saturdays and tree planting) that our companies used to organize have gone to the groupwide level.

The Green City is our second big volunteering event this year. On 20 April our employees cleaned about 2,000 tonnes of litter during the national campaign Let's Make Ukraine Clean! This time we are going to benefit the “lungs” of our towns. It is another step towards the better quality of living in the cities where our people work - the objective our shareholder Rinat Akhmetov has set,” said Natalia Yemchenko, SCM Director of Public Relations and Communications.

“The contribution that we, residents of the cities and SCM's employees, make is as important for us as our big projects, e.g. the Social Partnership Programme that our holdings carry out with local residents and governments. We are united by the commitment to making our cities better. We believe that volunteering projects are significant as they help to change attitude to current issues and get involved to address them. It makes all of us partners in the drive for change and teaches to put value on achievements.”

The idea to landscape parks, streets and avenues attracted volunteers from SCM, Metinvest, DTEK, Portinvest, Mining Machines, Vega, Segodnya Multimedia and others. They are going to plant almost 7,000 trees and shrubs on the day.
