OREANDA-NEWS. Total gas sales volume by Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. for the month of September 2013 came to about 1,038.153 million m3, up 1.4% from September 2012.

In the residential sector, volume totaled 116.091 million m3, up 1.7% from September 2012, due to the increased number of customers than those of last year.

In the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), volume totaled 247.06 million m3, down 1.8% from September 2012, due to lower average temperature compared to that in the same period last year.

In the industrial sector, volume totaled 503.814 million m3, up 2.4% from September 2012, leading to the increased demand for power generation. Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled 171.188 million m3, up 2.9% from September 2012, due to the increased demand of the other companies.

Gas Sales Volume for the first half of fiscal 2013
Gas sales volume in the first half of fiscal 2013 (April - September 2013) totaled about 6,570.837 million m3, up by 2.2 % from the same period in fiscal 2012.

Of this total, the residential sector accounted for 1,208.997 million m3, down by 6.5% from the first half of fiscal 2012. The decrease was due to higher average temperature compared to that in the same period last year, leading to the decreased demand for space heating and water-heating.

Sales in the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use) amounted to 1,299.971 million m3, almost the same as the first half of fiscal 2012 (down 0.8%).

In the industrial sector, the volume totaled about 3,028.375 million m3, 8.1% up from the first half of fiscal 2012, due to the development of new demands following the commencement of trunk lines and to the increased demand for power generation, etc.

Volume for wholesale supply to gas companies totaled about 1,033.493 million m3, almost equal to the first half of fiscal 2012 (+0.7%).
