OREANDA-NEWS. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has announced that he is ready for denominating the country's home currency, but has to wait till the situation on the foreign exchange market gets more stable.

“We have new money, new bills printed, lying in store rooms for several years already,” Lukashenko told a group of Russian journalists in Minsk on Friday.

This is an ordinary technical transaction, Lukashenko said. “If people grow tired, we will go for it, forex circumstances permitting. We already had denomination once, but should have cut off more zeros back then. Otherwise the dollar would be worth 9 rubles now, not 9,000 rubles,” Lukashenko said.
