OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman have signed a Joint Statement under the results of negotiations between the delegations in Kyiv.

In the presence of the Heads of State several bilateral documents have also been signed.

Intergovernmental Agreement on Military Burial provides for the guarantees of mutual assistance in the preservation and care for military burial places on the territory of Ukraine where Czech citizens were buried and on the territory of the Czech Republic where Ukrainian citizens were buried. Particular attention is paid to the maintenance, search and ordering of the burial places. The Agreement will ensure free and perpetual use of lands where military burial places of other country are located under the principle of reciprocity. It will also promote the solution of issues related to exhumation, transportation and reburial of the remains. The Agreement provides for the intensification of cooperation between the State Interagency Commission of Ukraine for commemorating the victims of war and political repression and the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic.

Agreement Between the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and the Czech Republic on Mutual Quality Control of Products for Defense Purposes in the Course of Military-Technical Cooperation provides for the establishment of favorable conditions for regulation of mutual quality control of products for defense purposes between contracting parties that meets the national interests of the two states in promotion of military and dual-use goods on foreign markets. Special attention is paid to the protection of classified information received in the course of the fulfillment of the given Agreement.

Protocol to the Intergovernmental Convention on Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Tax Evasion Related to the Taxes on Income and Property provides for the change of names of taxes covered by the Convention, amendments to the text on taxation and data exchange. The Protocol changes the names of taxes covered by the Convention; amends the text of the Convention with regard to the articles on permanent establishment, pensions, avoidance of double taxation and non-discrimination; provides amendments to the interest tax, particularly it means that the interests received and actually owned by the Government of the contracting states, the National Bank of Ukraine and the Czech Republic, Oschadbank or Ukreximbank (in case of Ukraine) and Czech Export Bank or Export Insurance Company (in case of the Czech Republic) owned or controlled by the Government of the contracting states are exempt from taxation.

Also, the parties have signed Intergovernmental Implementation Protocol to the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on Readmission. The document is elaborated to practically implement the provisions of the Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on Readmission signed in Luxembourg on June 18, 2007 and under article 16 of the Agreement. The protocol provides for the creation of legal grounds and determination of the order of readmission between Ukrainian and Czech parties that will allow the implementation of joint measures on prevention, suppression and detection of crimes related to illegal migration as well as emphasize that Ukraine fulfills its obligations on the introduction of efficient mechanisms of implementation of state policy in the given sphere. The signature of the Implementation Protocol between Ukraine and the Czech Republic is held due to the willingness of the two parties to establish cooperation on practical implementation of the provisions of the Agreement on transfer and reception of persons who do not or cease to fulfill current requirements for entry or stay on the territory of Ukraine or the Czech Republic. The protocol also determines the competent bodies responsible for the implementation of the Agreement, border-crossing points for the transfer of persons, mechanisms of connection between the competent bodies, procedures of readmission and transit of persons subject to readmission, documents necessary for the procedure of readmission, ways and order of reimbursement of costs related to the implementation of article 12 of the Agreement on readmission. The protocol also determines the conditions of escort of persons subject to readmission as well as terms of submission and consideration of requests for readmission.
