OREANDA-NEWS. Candidates for the contest were picked based on the performance of their teams, their experience and personal achievements as well as participation in development and implementation of innovative projects, cutting-edge technologies and equipment. 30 Norilsk Nickel Group enterprises took part in the contest.

Awards were granted in 10 categories equal to the number of Norilsk Nickel's fields of operation: metallurgy and concentration, mineral resources, transportation, geology and maintenance, procurement, construction, energy and services of core operations.

In the first stage 553 line managers were nominated internally with 58 being picked for the contest, among which 10 craftsmen were selected. Winners were awarded the bespoke symbol of the project Golden Hands of the Foreman and a RUB 50,000 bonus. Each of the nominees received a valuable prize.

Alexander Ryumin, Director of the Company's Polar Division congratulated the contest winners and said: “Line managers play a significant part in production. First and foremost they serve as an intermediary between employees and employer, foster achievement and team-spirit in the workforce, train their subordinates. Secondly, they form the talent pool of an enterprise, succeeding through all the career steps: foreman - senior foreman - section foreman.”

This year the Foreman of the Year Contest has been held for the tenth time. Through the years 700 persons have been nominated with circa 100 winners overall. Improving the image of true professionals, incentivizing and encouragement of the most proactive production craftsmen is the main goal of the project.
