OREANDA-NEWS. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against the Federal Fishery Agency (Rybolovstvo) upon signs of violating the quota allocation procedures (in breach of Part 1 Article 15 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”).

In the FAS opinion, quota allocation for catching (harvesting) water biological resources in the Atlantic area of the exclusive economic zone of the Kingdom of Morocco has signs of violating the antimonopoly law.

On 14th February 2013, the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of marine fishing, under which Morocco allows Russian fishing boats to catch small pelagic species of fish (sardine, sardinella, mackerel, horse mackerel, and anchovies) in the Atlantic fishing zone of Morocco.

The first meeting of the FAS Commission is scheduled on 29th October 2013.
