OREANDA-NEWS. In this month's edition of Travel + Leisure magazine, readers ranked Charlotte Douglas International Airport as the nation's 10th best airport. As part of the magazine's 18th annual World's Best Awards, readers were surveyed to identify various trends including best hotels, destinations and companies that define "the very best in travel."

This year's list included a new category: top airports. Survey results tallied votes for 67 domestic airports in six categories: flight delays; design; food and drink; shopping; check-in; and location.

CLT won high marks for shopping, design, the atrium's rocking chairs and free Wi-Fi. Additionally, Charlotte Douglas ranked No. 5 in the food category. Travel + Leisure noted, "dining at Beaudevin, a wine bar with small plates, is one of the pleasures of transiting through Charlotte..."

Other airports that made the top 10 included: Portland International Airport (PDX), Tampa International Airport (TPA), Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), T.F. Green Airport (PVD), Indianapolis Airport (IND), Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), Boise Airport (BOI), Nashville International Airport (BNA) and General Mitchell International Airport (MKE).
