OREANDA-NEWS. On 21 October 2013 a new expositional object “Voennaya pushkarnya” was opened in a historical and cultural complex “Zaporozhskaya Sech” (island Hortitsa). A gunshot and salvo fire from Cossack gunnery marked its opening. Creation of a new exposition became possible thanks to financial support of “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works. The Works for these purposes devoted 50 thousand UAH.

In 2005, “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works became the general investor of the project “The rebirth of spirituality: creation of the historical and cultural centre and a monumental complex on island Hortitsa”. Historical and cultural complex “Zaporozhskaya Sech” has been built as a result of realisation of this project.

"The Steel Works, following principles of social policy of Metinvest Group, actively supports cultural and educational projects on a constant basis. With extraordinary enthusiasm we have apprehended idea of reconstruction of “Voennaya pushkarnya” on territory of Zaporozhskaya Sech as this object personifies Cossack fighting spirit and glorious history of our nation", — pointed out Rostislav Shurma, the General Director of “Zaporozhstal” Steel Works.

"I am confident that “Voennaya pushkarnya” will become a natural addition to an exposition of Sich and will create considerable interest among citizens and visitors of our city. Having visited an exposition “Voennaya pushkarnya”, the visitors may find out, how the protection of territory of Ukraine against enemies was organized at the time of the Cossacks, in what way the law and order was assured" — pointed out Rostislav Shurma, the General Director of “Zaporizhstal” Works.

More than 100 exhibits, different samples of Cossack artillery, canons, falconets, mortar guns, different types of shells, as well as craft tools of Cossacks are presented in exposition object “Voennaya pushkarnya”. Many of exposition exhibits are original articles of the Cossacks.
