OREANDA-NEWS. The export turnover of Moldovan wines in January-July 2013 exceeded USD 136 million, which is USD 29 million more than the export turnover recorded in the equivalent period of 2012.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the export turnover to the EU states made USD 18.4 million in January-July 2013, against USD 13.6 million in the first seven months of 2012.

“Out of the overall volume of exported alcoholic beverages this year, 13.5% went to the European Union,” said sources in the ministry.

The largest export destination is the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), where Moldova exported wines worth over USD 100 million, against USD 80.1 million in the equivalent period of 2012.

“About 73.4% of wine exports, slightly lower than in the equivalent period of 2012, went to the CIS,” said sources in the ministry.

At the same time, Moldova exported to other countries alcoholic beverages worth USD 18 million in the first seven months of 2013, against USD 12.5 million in January-July 2012.

According to statistics, Moldova is exporting mainly bottled wines, as well as bulk wines. The export quota in January-July 2013 reached 78 million liters, worth USD 91 million in all. In the equivalent period of 2012, Moldova exported 67 million liters, with an export turnover of USD 75 million.

Economic experts have also drawn attention to a positive trend in the export of Moldovan alcoholic beverages. Thus, they noted that the amounts of the alcoholic production shipped abroad, as well as the costs of the alcoholic beverages have increased by 27% and by 20%, respectively.

Yet, this statistics does not cover the export turnover recorded after the recent loud ban on Moldovan alcoholic beverages, imposed by the Russian Federation on September 11.
