OREANDA-NEWS. The Bank of East Asia (“BEA”) has signed the Treat  Customers Fairly Charter (the “Charter”) together with 21 other retail banks in Hong  Kong. A commitment by banks in Hong Kong to treat customers fairlyat every stage,  the Charter has been endorsed by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

In line with the Charter, BEA will waive dormant account fees on all accounts with  immediate effect.

In addition, vulnerable customers of BEA will continue to be exempt from the low  balance fee ordinarily charged to accounts with balances of less than HKD 5,000.

The  Bank will also support other customers by launching a new statement savings account  in the first quarter of 2014, which will alsobe exempt from a low balance fee. While  charges will apply to over-the-counter transactions made by account holders,  customers will be able to enjoya wide range of free-of-charge services via the ATM,  Cyberbanking, BEA App, and phone banking channels.
