OREANDA-NEWS. Customers of Standard Bank or Stanbic Bank in Botswana, Tanzania, Namibia and Uganda can now also do their banking via an app for Android devices. An iOS version will be available mid-November.

The SB Smart Banking app will be available to customers in Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe by the end of December.

The banking app offers customers the convenience of customized and accessible banking via a smartphone.

Once downloaded, customers can do the following via the SB Smart Banking app:
* View available and actual account balances
* View 30-day, 60-day and 90-day statements
* Transfer funds between any linked accounts
* Pay beneficiaries already loaded onto their Internet banking profile
* Buy airtime
* Locate Standard Bank or Stanbic Bank ATMs and branches, plus get maps and directions to them
* Calculate projected costs on loan repayments and affordability
* Get contact numbers for branches and call centres.

The app is available free from Android app stores but standard transactional fees apply.

This is the latest phase of our Africa mobile and digital banking journey. In 2012 we identified digital technology and mobility as another way to meet customer needs, making it ever-easier for them to access our products and services.

Standard Bank Group's acceleration of its mobile and digital banking offering in Africa started with the launch of a banking app in South Africa in 2012 and also driving SMS alert functions across 14 other countries.

Digital technology moves at a lightning pace and our customers on the continent can already look forward to a further upgrade the banking app in 2014. As new technology is developed, Standard Bank Group will continue to meet our customers' evolving needs.
