OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2013. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) made the Federal Fishery Agency (Rosrybolovstvo) a respondent in an antimonopoly case.

FAS suspects that in 2012 Rosrybolovstvo and its regional Office in Primorie concluded an agreement with “Aquaresource – DV” Ltd., “Taifun” Ltd., and “Kometa” Ltd. prohibited by the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” (Article 16). The companies were bidders at an auction for the quotas for catching three types of crab.

“The antimonopoly case was initiated upon materials of a criminal case opened by the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation. FAS, in cooperation with the law enforcement bodies and regulators, undertakes system-wide efforts to restore competition in harvesting and selling biological water resources. It is a strategically important sphere for the state that must always be under control”, stated Deputy Head of FAS, Alexander Kinev.
