OREANDA-NEWS.  November 11, 2013. The EBRD aims to invest about USD 600 million in 2013 in Kazakhstan, the Bank's First Vice President Phil Bennett has said during his first visit to the country as EBRD representative.

"This should be our largest year in the last three years, and we're very proud of what we've been able to do, and also very proud of the cooperation that we're getting from the central government, as well as municipalities, in order to get these projects put in place," he has said.

The total pipeline in Kazakhstan for the next 18 months is about USD 1 billion, according to Mr Bennett, who is in charge of the EBRD's banking operations.

Since the beginning of EBRD operations in Kazakhstan, the EBRD has invested approximately USD 6.6 billion in more than 160 projects, mobilising around USD 9.3 billion for these projects from other sources of financing.
