Agricultural Bank of China Limited (ABC) officially issued the Plan for Corporate Culture Building (2013-2015) (hereinafter referred to as the Plan), drawing a blueprint for its corporate culture building in the future. Dedicated to the ultimate objective of “quality, efficiency and responsibility” for corporate culture building, ABC raised targets for the next three years and identified basic content and measures in the Plan so as to integrate its political and corporate culture.

In the Plan, ABC takes “quality, efficiency and responsibility” as the ultimate objective of corporate culture building. High quality is the due professional and cultural quality of ABC as a top-grade commercial bank; great efficiency is the due result of its systems and the important display of its corporate competency; responsibility is a code of professional, cultural and humanistic ethic that adapts to social and economic development. With respect to its targets for the next three years, ABC expressly put forward four targets after comprehensive, systematic and in-depth corporate culture building: using the concept of “quality, efficiency and responsibility” to guide business development, integrating the same requirement into internal control and management, embedding the same aspiration into employee behaviors, and resorting to the same actions to improve its social image.

Over more than 60 years of development, ABC focused on both “Sannong” (agriculture, farmers and rural areas) financial services and urban business exploration, making due contribution to the sustained and healthy development of national economy. Meanwhile, when carrying forward the essences of traditional Chinese culture and the culture of a financial enterprise, it established a core concept system on corporate culture with ABC characteristics, making noticeable achievements in cultural building. This time, ABC identified the basic content of corporate culture building, and elaborated on the following five aspects, namely creating a system of spiritual culture, boosting brand culture, perfecting system culture, strengthening behavior culture and enhancing the culture of responsibility.

It’s learnt that before the Plan was issued, ABC spent one year on broad discussion and soliciting opinions. In terms of the guideline for corporate culture building, four aspects were highlighted in the Plan. First, synergic development between corporate culture and business operation must be promoted. Second, committed to the people and dedicator-centered philosophy, ABC must develop its corporate culture into employee culture and reach consensus with cultural concepts. Third, efforts must be made to create value and promote in-depth integration of culture with strategy, product, service, management, system, environment, and employee behavior. Fourth, the image of ABC must be shaped and quality improved, so as to intensify its appeal in brand, value, cultural concepts, and staff charisma.

By issuing the Plan, ABC not only identified the direction for the entire system in corporate culture building, but also organically combined its cultural strategy with specific measures. Along the path towards its targets for corporate culture building, ABC will take various measures such as strengthening culture carriers, organizing cultural activities, implementing cultural projects and enhancing culture popularization to press ahead with related work through effective implementation approaches.
