OREANDA-NEWS. JSC RusHydro (ticker symbol: MOEX, LSE: HYDR; OTCQX: RSHYY) announces that the fifth hydropower unit was commissioned and put into commercial operation at the Boguchanskaya hydropower plant (a 50/50 JV of RusHydro and UC RUSAL), adding 227 MW (current available capacity due to lower head) to the plant's working capacity.

The first three 333 MW hydropower units of the Boguchanskaya HPP were put into operation on November 26, 2012, the fourth hydropower unit was launched on January 21, 2013. The plant has started commercial supplies to the wholesale electricity and capacity market from December 1, 2012. Average daily output in October amounted to 16.36 GWh. Since its launch the Boguchanskaya HPP has supplied 4,169 GWh to the wholesale electricity and capacity market, including 3,752 GWh in 2013.

Total installed capacity of the five units in operation is 1,665 MW, actual capacity (reservoir level of 188 m) is 1,175 MW. Installation of the last ninth unit of the plant is currently underway.

Construction of the Boguchanskaya HPP was resumed in May 2006 after RusHydro and UC RUSAL had signed an agreement on the joint development of the Boguchanskoye Energy and Metals Complex (BEMO) comprising the Boguchanskaya HPP with average multi-year generation is 17,6 GWh and aluminum smelter producing 600 tons of metals per annum.
