OREANDA-NEWS. Heston Blumenthal and Heathrow are thrilled to announce that the multi-award winning chef will launch a new restaurant at Terminal 2 : The Queen's Terminal in June 2014.

Still under wraps, the new restaurant is due to open in June 2014 when Heathrow's Terminal 2 begins operations. The concept and menu, currently being developed, will showcase Heston's love for nostalgia and celebrate his pride of all things British, including our much loved and familiar dishes.

The menu will feature some of Britain's favourite meals inspired by his “In Search of Perfection” TV series. The concept for the restaurant will draw on all aspects of the chef's inimitable and creative approach to cooking bringing a brand new dining dynamic to Heathrow.

“This is an incredible project,” Heston explains. “There are so many different elements to consider when people are travelling. We want to deliver a broad spectrum of easy to enjoy, familiar dishes from fish and chips to pizza. When we made the 'In Search of Perfection' series we spent hours researching the temperature of a pizza oven or the crunch of batter; it's this inspiration that is behind the menu at Heathrow - with some truly British eccentricity thrown in for good measure.”

'Our brand new, ?2.5bn terminal will not only showcase the best of the UK's art and engineering talent, but also one of its greatest culinary minds. This new restaurant will certainly introduce a unique and original dimension to the airport eating experience at Heathrow' says Muriel Zingraff-Shariff, Heathrow's retail director.

Built and designed with passengers at its heart, Terminal 2 will be a spacious, open terminal with multi-lingual ambassadors and personal shoppers on hand to help customers make the most of their journey. The terminal is the next major step in the transformation of Heathrow, and will continue the progress the airport has made in recent years with the opening of Terminal 5 and the refurbishment of Terminals 1, 3 and 4. ?11bn has been spent on the airport over the last decade and passenger satisfaction scores now rank Heathrow as among the world's very best large airports.
