OREANDA-NEWS. A branch of Trubodetal (Chelyabinsk, a part of OMK) held public hearings on construction of an Integrated Pipe and Steelmaking Complex (PSC) in Chusovoy, Perm Krai. The objective of the event was to inform citizens of Chusovoy about the results of a preliminary evaluation of the environment impact the new complex will have, and to provide them with the opportunity to discuss the results of the preliminary ecological evaluation and ask questions.

Public hearings were initiated by authorities of the Chusovoy municipal district. The ecological agenda was drawn up according to legislative requirements.

About 100 citizens of Chusovoy, including representatives of Chusovoy Steel Works and city and district authorities, participated in the hearings. The event's participants were informed about the integrated pipe and steelmaking complex project by heads of Trubodetal's branch in Chusovoy (which is responsible for implementing the large-scale project), as well as by representatives of the Magnitogorsk institute on Steel Works Design (which is developing the project), and by the designing company responsible for the ecological safety of the complex.

According to the information submitted to Chusovoy's citizens, the construction of the PSC will result in the creation of metallurgical production facilities in Chusovoy in compliance with up-to-date technological and ecological requirements. According to the preliminary estimates, air pollution will decline by about 70% and water pollution - almost by three times. Water consumption from the Chusovaya River for technical purposes will decrease manifold as well. The new complex will not produce wastes that cannot be recycled or disposed.

A month before the public hearings, any person had the opportunity to get acquainted with the results of the ecological evaluation in the offices of Trubodetal's branch in Chusovoy. 38 citizens submitted applications. Trubodetal's branch also received proposals and comments from city authorities. All applications concerning the hearings' subjects will be given detailed replies. A record of the hearings' results will be prepared soon for the city's citizens to review in the branch's offices.

“Our objective is to inform Chusovoy citizens about the positive changes to be expected in the city after a new production facility is launched. OMK lays emphasis on both the technological and social importance of the PSC project. The construction of the complex will enable Chusovoy to become a new large metallurgical center in the Urals in just four years,” emphasized Director of Trubodetal's branch in Chusovoy, Dmitry Markov.
