OREANDA-NEWS.  The SARIOґs 7th Matchmaking Fair during its introductory section hosted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Rusatom Overseas and the Slovak Technical University.

The Memorandum is a logical step in the development of cooperation between Slovak and Russian experts in the nuclear sphere. It creates a legal basis for strengthening the cooperation between both partners in academic and scientific fields.

“Research in the field of nuclear energy has in Slovak Technical University a long-term tradition. We are participating in the international projects and cooperation as the signed MoU with Rusatom Overseas. Also mentioned cooperation shows the education interconnected with the research is on the Slovak Technical University oriented to the praxis needs and it has real outputs. I believe the cooperation between the Faculty of Electric Engineering and Information Technology with Rusatom Overseas will enhance the quality of education and support the acquisition of the new research projects,“ commented the signing act the President of the Slovak Technical University, Mr. Robert Redhammer.

According to Ms. Denisa Volekovб, the joint cooperation between Slovak and Russian scientists goes back to the foundation of the Slovak nuclear studies. “We wish to follow up this cooperation and to continue with it, especially in terms of preparing the youngest generation. I believe that signing of the Memorandum could strengthen the relations between scientists and students on both sides,“ said Ms. D. Volekovб.

Slovakia and Russia are long-lasting partners in the field of nuclear energy. Slovakia operates four units of Russian design VVER reactors, which produce more than a half of the domestic electricity. In addition to that Russia supplies the nuclear fuel for all Slovak reactors. At the moment ROSATOM considers its participation in the project of a new NPP construction in Jaslovske Bohunice in the format of purchasing shares of the company JESS.
