OREANDA-NEWS. Kirovsky Zavod has completed another stage in renewing the production of hot forgings and stampings. Under the project, LLC Russian Forging Plants has put three new furnaces and a rotoblast barrel into service, and modernized part of the main equipment.

The new three-section batch furnace with a line of hammers having a falling weight (FW) of 10-16 tons is designed to heat steel work pieces for forging and hot stamping. The high-accuracy automated temperature control enables the equipment to control the metal's qualities, ensuring the highest stamped forging quality. At the same time, the furnace's properties make it suitable for processing any type of steel, including stainless, as well as titanium, which significantly expands the line of goods produced by Russian forging plants.

Three new furnaces have been installed in the production line, in accordance with the principles of lean manufacturing and the 5S system, which provides for the minimum transfer of unfinished goods. The modern energy-efficient equipment will not only help Russian forging plants to expand their products' portfolio, but will also allow them to significantly save on gas and reduce operating costs.

At the same time, as part of the modernization project, a rotoblast barrel manufactured by the Italian OMSG was installed in the finishing operations area.

Kirovsky Zavod continues to implement the program of renewing its forge-and-press production, which was launched in 2012. The total budget of the project amounts to about 150 mln RUB.
