OREANDA-NEWS.   After introducing six coach trains on Line 2 (Jahangirpuri to HUDA City Centre) and Line-3/4 (Dwarka Sec-21 to NOIDA City Centre/Vaishali)), the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is now inducting its first six coach train on Line-1 too i.e, Dilshad Garden to Rithala (Red Line) from tomorrow i.e, 24th November 2013 (Sunday) .

This will be the first of a total of 10 six coach trains which are planned to be introduced on Line-1 in a phased manner. The induction of this six coach train has been preponed for Sunday for facilitating passengers visiting the ongoing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan.

These trains will carry approximately 600 commuters more than the four coach trains and will boost the carrying capacity of the Red Line which at present is having average rideship of around 3.5 lakh.

The Delhi Metro has planned to convert ten of its trains on Line-1 into six coach trains out of a total of 29. Thus, Line-1 will have 19 trains of four coach each and ten trains of six coach in next few months. Once all such trains are inducted into service on this line, then every alternate train on Line-1 will be of six coach during peak hours.

The Delhi Metro introduced the first six coach Metro train into passenger services on 23rd December 2010 on Line 3/4 and subsequently introduced the six coach trains on Line-2 from 06th February 2011. Similarly, the first eight coach Metro train was inducted into passenger services on 24th December 2012 on Line 2 and on 19th August 2013 on Line-3/4.
