OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2013. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) extended its Pre-Check program to Southwest Airlines and Delta Airlines passengers at Midway International Airport earlier this week.

Pre-Check is a pre-screening process for select frequent flyers who, if accepted into the Pre-Check program, are able to move through a designated security checkpoint more quickly without having to remove their shoes and light outerwear, or remove laptops from computer bags, for example.

"On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, I'd like to thank the TSA for continuing to expand this forward-thinking program to frequent Southwest fliers at Midway," said Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. "This program helps meet three of our most important priorities for air travelers - safety, security, and an enhanced customer experience at Midway."

The TSA Pre?™ lanes/entrance are located on the north side of the pedestrian bridge on the mezzanine level at the security checkpoint.

"We know the vast majority of air travelers do not pose a threat to security," said Kevin G. McCarthy, TSA's Federal Security Director at Midway International Airport. "The TSA continues to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach to security and TSA Pre?™ helps by allowing our officers to focus more of our resources at the checkpoint on passengers we know less about."
