Practice of Green Development in TISCO Attracted Attention from UN
OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2013. “The identity of the Member of the Global Compact is a business card for the enterprise to make foreign investment and economic and trade exchanges and also indicates its performance level of CSR,” Mr. Cheng Duosheng, Executive Secretary of Global Compact Network China, said when he visited TISCO.
AS one of the three members of Global Compact from China metallurgical industry, TISCO’s series of actions to construct the green steel plant which keeps a harmonious coexistence with the city attracted the attention from United Nations Global Compact. In order to popularize TISCO’s practice to a wide range of areas in the world, the Global Compact has decided to introduce and show TISCO case during its 2013 annual meeting.
Mr. Cheng Duosheng and his party visited the desulfurization and denitrification process of the sintering machine, 4350 M3 BF, showroom of TISCO Technology Center, Energy and Environmental Monitoring Center, Municipal Wastewater Treatment Center and Fly Ash Comprehensive Utilization Company and listened the working reports made by responsible persons of Corporate Culture Department, System Innovation Department and Energy and Environmental Protection Department of TISCO.
Mr. Cheng Duosheng spoke highly of TISCO’s achievements. He said, after many years of development, TISCO has become the leader in environmental protection technology and stainless steel manufacturing technology in the world and created a new way of thinking in integrating the domestic iron and steel enterprises into the city life in the aspect of performance of CSR. He said the reason why the members of Global Compact enjoyed a high reputation in international investment and trades was that the Global Compact not only integrated a large number of the best enterprises in the world, but also paid high attention to the conducts of the enterprises in performance of CSR and promotion of social harmony. TISCO’s practice in applying new environmental protection technologies, improving the urban environment and harmoniously coexisting with the city set an example for the iron and steel enterprises to solve the problem of environmental pollution and is worth summarizing and popularizing.
