OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2013. Qatar Petroleum was the corporate sponsor of the 7th IEEE GCC Conference & Exhibition, which was held last week in Doha with the theme “Towards Improving Quality of Life.”

The event was under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister of the State of Qatar, and it was held last November 17-20 at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC). It was organized by the Qatar Society of Engineers in partnership with the Gulf Sections of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a professional organization that is dedicated to the advancement of technology.

Many QP engineers attended the conference, which featured plenary sessions, tutorials and technical presentations covering a wide range of topics, including electronics and instrumentation, power systems and energy, as well as communications and signals processing.

As a major sponsor of the event, QP also took part in the exhibition on the sidelines of the event. The QP booth, which was visited by many conference delegates including engineering students, primarily showcased the corporation’s extensive operations in the oil and gas industry. In addition, it also raised awareness on QP’s newly launched corporate vision, which is “to be a world-class oil and gas corporation, with its roots in Qatar, and a strong international presence.”
In addition to QP, the 7th IEEE GCC Conference & Exhibition was also supported by the corporation’s joint ventures and subsidiaries, including Industries Qatar, Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC), Qatar Steel, Al Shaheen Holding, and Qatar Vinyl Company Ltd. (QVC).
