OREANDA-NEWS. The Higher Commission for Industrial Security honored SABIC for supporting, sponsoring and participating in the three-day 16th International Conference and Exhibition for Industrial Security, which opened in Riyadh on November 24, under the patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Higher Commission for Industrial Security.

Mohamed Al-Mady, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO received the honorary plaque from Gen. Saeed A. Al-Qahtani, Director of Public Security, at the inaugural ceremony of the conference, which was organized by the Higher Commission for Industrial Security.

During the event, which was attended by high ranking SABIC officials, led by Mohamed Al-Mady, Awadh Al-Maker, Executive Vice President, Manufacturing, and Ali Al-Garni, Vice President, Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS), Dr. Khalid Al-Akeel, Secretary General of the Higher Commission for Industrial Security, praised SABIC's active role in sponsoring the conference and supporting its activities as well as the accompanying exhibition. SABIC's organizing committee members - Yaarob Al-Thenayan, Director, SABIC Corporate Social Responsibility, and Ali Al-Rayes, Senior Manager, Industrial Security - were also honored during the event.

After inaugurating the exhibition, Gen. Al-Qahtani, Director of Public Security visited the SABIC pavilion and inspected its innovative design, inspiring ideas, and specialized exhibits, which included SABIC's success stories in the fields of industrial security, health, safety, site protection, and industrial fire-fighting. He listened to a brief explanation from Ali Al-Garni and company representatives and specialists. He was briefed on SABIC's efforts in protecting its manufacturing complexes, operational sites, and supporting facilities. He watched a film on SABIC's vast experience in the fields of industrial security, safety, and fire-fighting.

Addressing the conference on behalf of SABIC, Al-Maker said, “Providing safe and healthy conditions at the work site is indispensable for the continued growth and prosperity in the industrial sector in the Kingdom.” He further touched on the subject of reducing the environmental footprint through adopting sustainability programs.

In addition to its membership in the organizing committee of the conference, SABIC also participated in the conference through three streams. The first, through its platinum sponsorship of the conference; the second, through its distinguished pavilion at the exhibition; and third, by way of making specialized presentations. The topics of SABIC presentations were: SABIC Leadership Effectiveness in Crises Management by Sayer Al-Shammeri, SABIC Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) General Manager; SABIC Initiative to Improve Contractor Safety Performance, by Ali Al-Ghamdi SABIC EHSS Safety Senior Manager; Responsible Care® Security Code of Management Practices, by Hasan Al-Shaik, SABIC EHSS Security Senior Manager; and The Impact of Overconfidence on Safety Performance, by Abdullah Al-Ahmari, EHSS Senior Manager, HADEED.
