OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2013. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko has taken part in the eighth meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Israeli Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation in Jerusalem.

"The purpose of today's meeting of the Commission is the specification of our ways of further development and intensification of Ukrainian-Israeli trade relations in the priority areas of cooperation, reaching agreement on implementation of joint long-term projects in areas of mutual interest," Kostyantyn Gryschenko said, opening the event.

The sides noted the high level of contacts between the two countries, and significant potential for further cooperation.

During the meeting the parties raised the issue of trade and economic relations; cooperation in finance, transport, tourism and humanitarian spheres was discussed. Among others, the sides discussed prospects of strengthening cooperation in the field of agriculture, water resources and "green energy".

Among the priority areas of cooperation it was highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and the State of Israel in the field of high technology, including that are used in the medical field.

"I’d like to invite our Israeli friends and business representatives to participate in the Second International Business Conference "Ukraine&Associates", which will be held next year in Kyiv," Kostyantyn Gryshchenko said.

Special attention during the meeting of the Commission was paid to the development of transport in terms of flights between Ukraine and Israel.

"We signed an agreement on visa-free regime between Ukraine and Israel in 2010. Currently, the number of people that travel to Ukraine and Israel has increased in two and a half time. At the same time, potential of regions is still untapped. We should jointly study the possibility to increase the number of flights to other Ukrainian cities from the State of Israel," K. Gryshchenko said.

The sides agreed to hold such negotiations within 1-2 quarter of 2014.

By the result of the meeting of the Commission the Protocol was signed.
