OREANDA-NEWS. The selling price of Belarusian-made potash fertilizers will be over USD 300 per tonne in 2014, an official with the Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) told.

“According to our forecast, the market price is seen at more than USD 300 per tonne. The latest export contracts prompt a price level like that,” the official said.

The BPC is not going to increase sales by means of dumping, the company official said. “We will follow the market as far as the price is concerned, but dumping is out of the question. Our strategy is to stabilize the market,” the official said.

As previously reported with reference to Vice Economy Minister Alexander Yaroshenko, Belarus plans to sell 7 million tonnes of potash fertilizers in 2014 at USD 300 per tonne.

In July 2013 Russia's Uralkali would quit cooperation with Belaruskali and withdraw from the potash export cartel. Furthermore, Uralkali announced a change in its marketing policy, which is now based on the volume-over-price principle. Uralkali plans to increase potash output from 10.5 million tonnes in 2013 to 12.5 million tonnes in 2014.

As a result of the divorce, potash prices on the global market plunged from USD 400 to less than USD 300 per tonne and Belarus had trouble selling its potash to overseas customers. In October Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Uralkali's volume-over-price policy had caused potash prices to fall to USD 230 per tonne.
