OREANDA-NEWS.  Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has started accepting subscriber applications for mobile number portability. Other operators’ subscribers may switch to Tele2 while retaining their mobile number

Subscribers may submit their applications in any monobrand store to connect to Tele2 network while retaining their numbers. At the beginning, the service will free for new subscribers. The operator will offer new clients connection packages on regular conditions.

Under the current legislation, the procedure for moving the number to another operator’s database is taking up to eight days. At the same time, the operator has a right to select any date prior to 15 April 2014 for the beginning of providing services to the client. The subscriber is getting a Tele2 SIM that will be connected to his old number after the MNP process is finished. Meanwhile clients will receive SMS from Tele2 with information regarding the progress, the date and time of the number’s portability. One can use the MNP service in 70 days after the previous procedure is completed.

Tele2 is technically ready to launch the service at all stages directly supervised by the company. However, the mobile number portability is an intricate process that involves many participants and their technical readiness for MNP launch may differ. To guarantee success of MNP, Tele2 recommends that subscribers use the service after the New Year holidays.
