OREANDA-NEWS. From 24 to 26 November NPO Saturn welcomed a group of delegates from Perm Motor Plant and ZAO Metallist-PM visiting the company on the items of certification and product quality assurance.

Sergey Antropov, NPO Saturn quality director gave a high appraisal to the outcome of the meeting between the quality managers from the two companies: “The companies in the Russian aircraft engine building industry demonstrate good potential, however, to make deliveries of serially-produced civil engines to foreign customers a reality, an approval of the quality assurance system granted by EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) is needed. Saturn is already EASA-certified and is authorized to deliver its engines to the Western countries. Understanding that the PD-14 engine is considered one of the prioritized projects for the development of Russia's civil aviation, we thereby transfer our experience and practical knowledge to our Perm partners all being in the same civil engines division. We are fully open and demonstrate to our colleagues the procedures which are not in application anywhere else in Russia. The meetings dedicated to quality issues within the division will be taking place on a regular basis. We have already included in our plans the work on the integration of the supplier quality requirements applicable for both our companies. Solving this task would help optimize the companies' costs. We have demonstrated the ability to work well together on the quality-related issues within the UEC's civil engines division.”

Quality director of Perm Motor Plant Anton Kuznetsov underscored the importance of interaction between the companies within the division: “Saturn has managed to accumulate vast working experience through the SaM146 project. While we are still at the very beginning of making the PD-14 engine. The experience of NPO Saturn will help the companies in the division achieve the best results and reach the world-class level. We are now receiving the knowledge that we need so much, we are learning from Saturn's experience; it is envisaged to use this experience in our company in the future. It would be incorrect to stay isolated from each other. We need to exchange opinions, communicate, so to say “open the doors for each other”. Our companies are already making the first moves towards that end.”
