OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2013. The largest enterprise of project “PARK”’s petrochemical cluster – plant “Omsky Kauchuk” – is conducting trials of pilot batch of automotive propane-butane.

Alternative automotive fuel will soon be added to the range of goods of GC “Titan”. Nowadays specialists of “Omsky Kauchuk” plant are developing schemes for the making of the new product. Propane-butane mixture had already been manufactured by one of such schemes, and it was sent to the enterprise’s lab for analysis.

Technical possibility for the making of automotive propane-butane was achieved by Group of Companies “Titan” owing to the startup of unit for processing of propane-propylene fraction on Omsk Polypropylene Plant. Gas of 96% purity, which is manufactured by “Poliom”, conforms to GOST requirements.

Each day the enterprise for processing of propane-propylene fraction produces more than 100 tonnes of propane. Propane-propylene fraction (PPF) is divided by the unit into three parts – propylene (75%) and propane (25%). High purity propylene is fed as the major feedstock component to the polymerization unit of Omsk Polypropylene Plant, and propane is fed to “Omsky Kauchuk” plant. The latter is also used as a fuel for domestic purpose and as ecological fuel for automobiles.

Reference
Automotive propane-butane is a mixture of liquefied gas. It consists from propane and butane. Emission of hazardous substances during the fuel combustion is minimal thanks to the lack of zinc and sulfur in the gas. Pure combustion of the gas makes it an ecologically-friendly fuel for broad use in residential buildings, on agricultural enterprises, on production facilities and as a motor fuel.
