OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2013. Rates of grain exports have significantly exceeded showings of last year. Thus, at present, grain has been sold abroad almost by 24% more than in the 2012-2013 marketing year. In particular, it was exported more wheat, corn and oilseeds.

This was started by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

"Agrarian producers have managed to harvest 63 million tons of grain this year, which is a good prerequisite to increase exports. Thus, at present grain has been delivered abroad by 3.2 million tones more or by 24% more than in 2012. Producers and traders were able to increase the supply of wheat by 14%, barley by almost 12%, corn by 42%, and oilseeds by 60%. In general it was exported 16.4 million tons," Mykola Prysyazhnyuk informed.

Countries of Asia, Africa and Europe are the most active buyers of Ukrainian grain.

So, the EU bought Ukrainian grain and oilseeds in the amount of USD 2.2 billion, Asian countries - in the amount of USD 2.4 billion. In addition Ukraine delivered to Africa grain and oilseeds in the amount of USD 1.4 billion for 10 months.

Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk also said that exports slightly slow down in January-February and begin to accelerate in the early spring.

"By the end of the marketing year, we plan to export up to 32 million tons of grain. This is a record for Ukraine. The opening new markets, including China’s market contributed to the increase in grain deliveries abroad," Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
