OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has created an online service for identifying an operator and a region by a mobile phone number. This option might be especially useful on the MNP launch – users may easily find out whose network a certain subscriber is registered on.

Staring from 1 December 2013, the MNP service has become available to Russian subscribers, which allows them changing operator and keeping a current mobile number at the same time.

Prior to the MNP launch, a mobile number prefix or a so-called code of operator let identify a network the number was registered on. Now when switching an operator, a subscriber keeps an old prefix and it is not so easy to find out whose operator’s services he is using.
