OREANDA-NEWS. The builders of LLC Spetsmost, a part of the SK MOST Group of Companies, are planning to build seven new bridges in Murmansk. The bridge builders have already started construction of the first installation, a pedestrian bridge, which will be the only above-ground pedestrian crossings in the city.

The pedestrian crossing is being built at the intersection of a bypass road with Shabalin Street. Three more highway bridges and three overpasses will be built here in the next three and a half years. A system of installations will connect the bypass route with M-18 Highway (St. Petersburg - Borisoglebsk International Motor Vehicle Checkpoint on the border with Norway).

The company division engaged in constriction of these projects in the arctic city of Murmansk was relocated from Sochi where construction of the Adler - Alpika Service Mountain Resort combined motorway and railway route has been completed.

The builders are facing the same hurdles here in Murmansk as those that had to be overcome when they erected the pile footings for the bridges in the Mzymta River valley. They have to deal with large-size boulder inclusions in a relatively soft soil. LLC Spetsmost used a US-made turbodrill with high-capacity compressors.

Unlike Sochi, with its warm and humid climate, the builders will have to heat concrete structures until they gain the desired strength. However, the bridge builders are prepared to the challenges that lie ahead because they used to work under extreme conditions before. All projects will be commissioned on schedule with required quality.
