OREANDA-NEWS. December 24, 2013. Starting with next year, the wine producers will be able to purchase equipment in leasing within a program for which the Government took out a loan of EUR 75 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB), IPN reports.

In a news conference, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said that the winemakers need modern equipment in order to cope with the challenges, while the burden when taking out loans from banks is heavy, even if the interest rate is low.

Iurie Brumarel, executive director of the Wine Sector Restructuring Program, said the EIB already disbursed EUR25 million for the program.

A lending fund will be soon created to support the wine producers with historical debts to banks, accumulated after Russia imposed a ban on the imports of Moldovan wine in 2006.
