OREANDA-NEWS. Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) JSC successfully completed construction of new 500 kV OHTL YuKGRES -Alma.

This OHTL was built under the Alma Electricity Transmission Project which was included in the Map of Kazakhstan Industrial Investment Projects for 2010-2014.

Total length of the OHTL is 321.7 km including the territories of Zhambyl Oblast - 84 km and Almaty Oblast - 237.7 km. The Branch of КЕС International Limited in Kazakhstan (Mumbai, India) was a General contractor for the project; subcontract works were performed by ASPMK-519 LLP (Almaty, Kazakhstan).

In accordance with the project implementation schedule, the construction of 500 kV OHTL YuKGRES-Alma was planned to be completed in 2014. The commissioning of 500 kV OHTL YuKGRES-Alma will considerably enhance the electric reliability for consumers in Almaty and Almaty Oblast. This project was one of measures to cut electricity deficit in the South of Kazakhstan.

Earlier, for these purposes, the Company implemented the Moinak Electricity Transmission Project and Alma Electricity Transmission Project. KEGOC plans to construct Third 500 kV Inter-Regional North-East-South Electricity Transmission Line up to 2018.
