OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2013. At the last session in this year the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov called main acquisitions of the Government in 2013 and characterized briefly the work of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“After three years and a half of our painstaking work targeting to change the oppressive gas contract the President of Ukraine, so to say, has removed the gas noose from our economy that cost USD 20 billion overpaid for gas for our people. The treason of Tymoshenko’s government has been liquidated,” Mykola Azarov called the first achievement. “The Head of the state have agreed on resuming the normal trade and economic regime with the Russian Federation.”

Under conditions of the world recession and slowdown of the trade turnover with Russia the Government has fulfilled all social liabilities that were neither lowered nor frozen as in other countries, but on the contrary they were growing: four times in a row during the year. We have avoided of decrease of the gross domestic product and on the outcomes of the year we will have had approximately “zero” against 2012.

“The Government has not afforded increase of inflation processes. Growing the prices for essential goods of “the consumer’s basket” will not exceed approximately 1% for the year,” Mykola Azarov stressed. “We have preserved the national currency from devaluation.”

At this he added “in the most difficult conditions we have not just managed to survive but were building roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, kindergardens, put in operation the new enterprises.”
So, last week we saw the launch of the second unit of Dnister hydro-power station. It is the most powerful and the most technologically improved hydroelectric power plant in Europe. Last Friday the President put in operation this power unit.

The works continue in construction of Tashlyk hydro-accumulating power station, modernization of the cascade of Dnipro hydroelectric power stations, building of bulk electricity systems to ensure power distribution for nuclear power station units.

In 2013 self-elevating offshore drilling rig the Independence has started drilling of its first well. These works are performed in Arkhangelsk gas deposit in the framework of implementation of the production plan of Chornomornaftogas for 2013 which envisages increased extraction on the shelf of the Black and the Azov Seas by 41% - up to 1.65 bln cu m of natural gas.

The world leaders of the branch, such as Shevron, Shell, Exxon Mobil, have started development and preparation to exploit the new gas deposits in Ukraine. 

The movable stock of bus and trolley-bus parks in Vinnytsya has been renewed, a new tram line built. The movable stock of the trolley-bus parks has been renewed in Chernihiv and Khmelnytsky.

Building of a modern treatment and diagnostics complex of the National Children’s Hospital Okhmatdyt is prolonged.

Motor road sections have been built with junctions on Kryvyi Rih highway, on Kyiv – Luhansk – Izvaryne highway in Dnipropetrovsk, an overpass along Admiral Senyavin avenue in Kherson.
The construction of a new Beskyd tunnel has been commenced.

Two more stations of Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiyska underground line in Kyiv have been put in exploitation.

In 2013 there have been purchased 400 school buses.

Ukraine has gathered a record harvest – over 63 million tons of grain crops. And it is not just a gift of nature, but the result of introducing industrial agro-technologies, restoring of fertility of lands, introducing of advanced forms of organization of agrarian business. 

In the scientific information area among significant achievements are introduction of .УКР Cyrillic domain, activization of realization of the Interstate program of innovation development of CIS member states cooperation for the period of through 2020. And the most important is signing of the Agreement between Ukraine and CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) on associated membership. All this will facilitate the development of interstate cooperation in the innovation area.

And this list can be prolonged, though the Government assumes that there must be done a lot more and is working in this direction.
