OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2013. The tariffs for population will remain stable. This was stressed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at the Cabinet’s meeting.

“The Government, despite the pressure from international financial institutions and economic difficulties, has not shifted the high cost of gas to the population, Mykola Azarov said. - The rates of heating for households have not been increased since July 2010 - that is, 3.5 years!”

The Prime Minister explained that people pay only part of the cost, and the other part is compensated by the state. For example, having the price of USD 400 just only USD 90 is paid by consumers, and the rest 310 dollars is paid by the state.

Thus, reducing gas prices accordingly reduce budget expenditures to compensate the difference between the market price and those that is paid by citizens.

"So, the tariffs for the population will remain stable," Mykola Azarov assured.

Thus he added that when it comes about reducing tariffs for gas and heat to the public, then it should be done on the basis of improving the efficiency of heat production, reduction of losses during transportation, implementation of energy conservation, etc.

"And we are also performing such work," Mykola Azarov summed up.
