OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2013, is a milestone date for Moscow Domodedovo Airport: the 30 millionth passenger of the air hub was serviced on that day. The airport's automatic systems registered this record at 2:58 p.m., Moscow time.

Robert Arutyunyan, a 8-year-old boy, became the 'anniversary' passenger of the air hub and accepted greetings and gifts from Igor Borisov, Moscow Domodedovo Airport Director. The young passenger, together with his parents, was flying to Dubai, from which the family will travel to Singapore for the New Year holiday. The travelers received souvenirs and a certificate for the airport's business lounge services from Domodedovo Airport.

“It was a nice surprise for us: we could not have thought about our youngest family member's becoming the 30 millionth airport passenger. On the New Year Eve, it resembles a fairy tale! We travel rather frequently and often depart from Domodedovo. From here one can get almost in any corner of the world, and now we will be able to use the business lounge services. It is a wonderful gift,” Artur Arutyunyan, the 30 millionth passenger's father, shared his impressions.

30,000,000 passengers annually is a record not only for Domodedovo Airport. None of Russian and East European air hubs has managed to achieve such passenger traffic so far. Growth in the number of travelers opting for Domodedovo exceeded 9% in 2013 as compared with 2012.

'30 000 000 passengers a year is for Domodedovo Airport a milestone reached thanks to hard work. Jointly with its partners, Domodedovo expands its itineraries, the range of services, creates comfortable flight conditions to millions of travelers and is always committed to new advances,” emphasized Igor Borisov, Moscow Domodedovo Airport Director.

Domodedovo Airport enables passengers to travel worldwide: at present, 86 companies operate through the air hub in 239 destinations. 85 destinations are unique for the Moscow air hub, and this number is on the rise: in 2013, eight flights unparalleled among the Moscow air hub airports were operated. Moreover, the most popular destinations of the travelers selecting capital airports are available at Domodedovo: Antalya, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Hurgada, Barcelona, Sochi, Novosibirsk, Dubai, Munich.

The wide range of services offered by Domodedovo allows greater mobility and comfort to passengers in flights. Following the global trends, the country's biggest airport is developing alternative check-in and payment methods on a comprehensive basis, introduces innovative IT technologies, expands services targeting disabled passengers and ensures the maximum comfort for small travelers.

The air hub performance is highly appreciated both in Russia and worldwide. For instance, 2013 has already brought two prestigious awards to Domodedovo Airport - Skytrax's fourth consecutive gold medal in the Best East European Airport category (the winner is determined based on similar user surveys worldwide) and the sixth annual Travel.ru Star (it is assigned to leaders of the voting held on the Russian tourist online portal).
