OREANDA-NEWS. In year 2013, „Latvijas balzams” produced 2,636,950 litres of sparkling alcoholic beverages, the joint share of „Rigas sampanietis” and „Rigas Diva” in this exceeding 1.5 million litres.

Although, according to the data pooled by the State Revenue Service over 9 months, „Rigas sampanietis originalais” (Rigas Sparkling Wine) is still the most sold sparkling wine in the domestic market, the sparkling wines marketed under trade name „Rigas Diva” and represented on the domestic market by already four varieties are becoming more and more popular among the consumers. Compared to year 2012, the production volumes of „Rigas Diva” have increased by 67% last year.

„This is no surprise to us, as trending suggests that the consumer currently prefers sweeter beverages with lower alcohol content. „Rigas Diva” meets these expectations excellently. Foreseeing such market trends, in year 2012 „Latvijas balzams” started to pursue a well-considered and future-oriented production and marketing policy by restructuring the Riga sparkling wine and beverage line and launching the production of the brand „Rigas Diva”” says Commercial Director Valters Kaze.

The total volume of production of the beverages „Rigas Diva” and „Rigas sampanietis” has increased by 2% during year 2013, with simultaneous slight (by 11%) decrease in the production volume of „Rigas sampanietis” and a rapid (by 67%) increase in that of „Rigas Diva” sparkling wine.

The company is already working on several new sparkling wine projects targeted also at export markets.
