OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2014. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against “RusAvtoKart” Ltd., “RusTAHONET” OJSC and “NIIAT” OJSC upon signs of fixing monopolistically high prices by the companies for AETR tachographs (tachographs that meet the requirements of the European Agreement concerning the work of crews of vehicles engaged in international road transport).

The case was initiated and an antimonopoly investigation was carried out upon a petition of a road carrier of container cargo - “TranCo” Ltd. - about “RusAvtoKart” Ltd. and “RusTAHONET” OJSC. According to the petitioner, the companies fixed excessive prices for the supplied products, while alternative suppliers of similar products are absent on the market.

The antimonopoly investigation revealed that “RusAvtoKart” Ltd., “RusTAHONET” OJSC and “NIIAT” OJSC fixed monopolistically high prices for the cards for AETR tachographs that exceeded the sum of the necessary production costs and profit.

Such actions by the companies can constitute a violation of Article 10 the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”, since “RusAvtoKart” Ltd., “RusTAHONET” OJSC and “NIIAT” OJSC have the dominant position on the market of production of cards for AETR tachographs in the Russian Federation with 100% market share.

A substantive consideration of the case is scheduled for Q1 2014.
