OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2014. FAW-Volkswagen produced 1.5 million cars in China in 2013. The celebration was held on Dec 20 in Chengdu base where its 1.5 millionth car would be rolled off the assembling line. The other production bases of FAW-Volkswagen scattered in Changchun, China' southern region and southwestern region will also hold celebration activities in succession. 

The event of production of 1.5 million cars annually means FAW-Volkswagen's production capacity and competitiveness already get to a new level.

FAW-Volkswagen has been focusing on the construction of its three major production bases, and paid much attention to the development of these facilities because they are one part of FAW-Volkswagen's national strategic layout.

Located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, construction of the southwestern production base was completed and started operation on Jan 16, 2013. With a planned capacity of 540,000 units, Chengdu plant will mainly produce cars of brand new Sagitar and brand new Jetta.    
 
The construction of the first phase of FAW-Volkswagen's Foshan plant was completed and went into operation on Sep 25, 2013. The planned annual output of the plant is of 300,000 units.
It is certain that FAW-Volkswagen's three major production bases will play an important role to support FAW-Volkswagen's overall plan of annual output of 1,800,000 by 2015.
