OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2014. Reference is made to a decision by the Disciplinary Committee (the “Committee”) of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (the “Institute”) regarding Mr. Wu Ting Yuk, Anthony (“Mr. Wu”), an Independent Non-Executive Director of China Taiping Insurance Holdings Company Limited (the “Company”).

According to a press release of the Institute, the Committee found Mr. Wu’s failure to observe, maintain or otherwise apply the independence requirements of the Institute in participating in the management of a company and/or otherwise having an involvement with such company and its subsidiaries whilst also a senior partner of Ernst & Young who acted as auditors of such company in respect of the financial years ended 31 December 1995 to 31 December 1997, and whilst being a deemed auditor under the Companies Ordinance (Cap 32, Laws of Hong Kong), to be a professional misconduct.

The Institute will file submission on sanctions and costs with the Committee.
