OREANDA-NEWS. January 17, 2014. 50% of the full Olympic timetable for the Lastochka electric trains running on the Black Sea coast came into effect.

At this stage, the timetable includes 222 Lastochka electric trains operating as follows on the routes shown below:

Sochi – Adler – Olympic Park – Sochi (119 trains);

Olympic Park – Krasnaya Polyana – Olympic Park (18 trains);

Sochi – Adler – Krasnaya Polyana – Sochi (50 trains);

Sochi – Sochi Airport – Sochi (35 trains).

The distance between Sochi and the Olympic Park is 30.7 km, 46.1 km between the Olympic Park – Krasnaya Polyana, 71.2 km between Sochi – Krasnaya Polyana, 26 km between Sochi – Sochi Airport and 3 km between Adler – Sochi Airport.

Fares are calculated according to the zonal fares. For example, the fares on the most popular Olympic routes will be:

Sochi – Olympic Park – 56 roubles,

Sochi – Krasnaya Polyana – 112 roubles,

Sochi – Adler – 42 roubles,

Adler – Krasnaya Polyana – 70 roubles,

Adler – Olympic Park – 14 roubles,

Sochi – Sochi Airport – 56 roubles,

Sochi Airport – Krasnaya Polyana – 84 roubles,

Sochi Airport – Olympic Park – 28 roubles,

Sochi Airport – Adler – 14 roubles.

The phased introduction of the Olympic timetable using Lastochka trains began on 1 November 2013. During the first stage, Lastochka trains made up 30% of the full Olympic timetable. At the moment, from 7 to 23 January 2014, the frequency of Lastochka services is being increased to 50%.

From 24 January 2014 – the period of the Sochi-2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games – the timetable will be implemented fully. Every hour, 4 trains will run from Krasnaya Polyana to Adler and 4 trains in the opposite direction, from Adler to Krasnaya Polyana.

Russian Railways guarantees it will provide transportation of around 7,000 passengers per hour and will have 38 Lastochka trains in service to meet these scheduled targets during the Sochi-2014 Olympic Games.
