OREANDA-NEWS. In late December, the Miscellaneous Goods Terminal at the Port of Tubarao, in Espirito Santo, shipped out a batch of pig iron for the first ever time. This pioneering operation, involving a volume equivalent to 22,400 metric tons, has opened up an additional logistics option for the transportation of this product through our terminal.

The operation is in line with our strategy of guaranteeing greater use of our assets and raising the terminal's throughput capacity. To our customers (in this case, pig iron producers), the major advantage of shipping via the Miscellaneous Goods Terminal is logistical integration for goods transportation. This integration ensures fast cargo movement and an attractive price for the logistics service provided.

Until now, all of the product transportation logistics were already conducted by Vale, except embarkation. For the local market, the main economic benefit has been the hiring of specialist companies with specific equipment for internal handling at the port, as well as guaranteeing producers in Espirito Santo and Minas Gerais efficient storage and an appropriate location with 24-hour security. This new operation was carried out in conjunction with logistics company VLI.
