OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2014. In The Hague, Premier Iurie Leanca and KLM representatives discuss an opportunity of re-launching a direct flight between Chisinau and Amsterdam.

Iurie Leanca told the KLM representatives about measures authorities of Moldova had taken to have the air market diversified, including launches of direct flights from Chisinau to European capitals. According to the Premier, the government is committed to ensure transparent and fair conditions for all air companies that are going to operate on the market of Moldova.

The interest of investors to Moldova would be growing as they would be given wider and easier access to investees, Iurie Leanca said. KML Vice-president Bruce P. Donszelmann pointed out his company is investigating the market of air services in Moldova and considering opportunities offered by national operators of Moldova. The flight Chisinau-Amsterdam was operated in 2003-2005 and served about 45,000 passengers in total.

As the recent market trends show, the passenger traffic through the airport of Moldova keeps growing, which proves a necessity to re-launch the flight. The route offers travellers to West Europe, Canada and the USA comfortable connecting flights at affordable prices. Moldova became a member of the EU common air space in July 2012. As the market of air services was liberalized in Moldova, the traffic of transit passengers through Munich, Vienna, Bucharest and Riga has increased by almost 20%.
