OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2014. Five scientific research achievements independently made by Wuhan Surveying-Geotechnical Research Institute Co. of MCC Group (WSGRI) passed through the authentication by MCC Group.

The Research on Geotechnical Engineering Performance of Fine Grained Tailings and Development of Database System is rated to be of international leading level. The WSGRI’s Computer-Aided Design System for Geotechnical Engineering is rated to be of international advanced level. The other three R&D results are rated at domestic advanced level, including: (i) Research on Expansive-soil Characteristics and Landslide Control Technology in Shangsi of Guangxi; (ii) General-view Information System of MCC Digital-Mobile Terminal (iOS version); and (iii) Field-data Collection System of Underground Pipeline (Android).

Research on Geotechnical Engineering Performance of Fine Grained Tailings and Development of Database System, systematic in-depth quantitative analysis and research work was carried out for the various performance indicators of the geotechnical engineering. The software of Engineering Performance Analysis Database System for Fine Grained Tailings (TPGS1.0) was developed, which could offer the quantitative analysis basis for appropriate assessment on the geotechnical engineering performance of fine grained tailings, as well as the design and stability assessment of the warehouse for fine grained tailings. Under this project, one software copyright was obtained, two items of invention patent were applied, one essay on EI was published. The achievements have been successfully applied in quite a few tailings warehouse projects and generated remarkable economic and social benefits, for instance, White-rock Tailings Warehouse of Wengfu Phosphate Mine in Guizhou, Yumugou Tailings Warehouse of Luanchuan Longyu Molybdenum Industry Company.

WSGRI’s Computer-Aided Design System for Geotechnical Engineering is a specific CAD software, which can automatically generate the whole set of foundation pit supporting construction drawing and make statistics on the engineering quantity. This system has been put into utilization in foundation pit supporting design of Sanjin Xiongchu Tiandi, Sanjin Huadu B2 Block, the 3rd Phase of Xishan Linyu, Nanjing Yangtze River International Shipping Center and Handan Universal Center.

Under the Research on Expansive-soil Characteristics and Landslide Control Technology in Shangsi of Guangxi, study has been undertaken on the double-row antiskid retaining structure for large-scale expansive-soil landslide treatment works, and the new construction method for artificial excavating of rectangle antiskid pile, which can resolved the difficult problem for operation of antiskid pile in the expansive-soil region. This technology has been put into use in the landslide treatment works of China Resources Cement (Shangsi) Co., Ltd. The treatment result has been proved to be stable, the cement plant has been running smoothly for three hydrologic years, and a large amount of fund has been saved for the employer.
General-view Information System of MCC Digital-Mobile Terminal (iOS version) is the first such kind developed for metallurgical industry, through which the user could get the general-view service on the metallurgical plant/mine at mobile terminal at any time. This system is also designed with the functions of collecting multimedia data such as pictures and videos on the jobsite. Up to now, it has been put into application for the General-view Information System of Meishan Steel Works and Wuhan Steel Works.

Field-data Collection System of Underground Pipeline (Android) is also the first such kind developed for metallurgical industry, through with the information collection and schematic drawing of the underground pipelines could be made at mobile terminal. As an innovation on the traditional surveying method, it reduces the difficulties for field investigation in case of probing on underground pipelines, simplifies the treatment modes for fusion of performance and space data of the underground pipelines. It has been put into operation in the actual projects of two companies, and has been placed with high premium by the premium and thus enjoys wide application prospect.
