OREANDA-NEWS.  January 22, 2014. Specialists from Vyksa Steel Works (JSC VSW, Nizhny Novgorod region, a part of the United Metallurgical Company, CJSC OMK) who supervise the quality of LDP coating have elevated their professional qualifications in accordance with European BGAS-CSWIP standards by undergoing the company’s training program for project “South Stream.”

They were issued the “Coating Inspector, Level II” international certificate. The VSW staff was trained by a representative of the Cambridge University branch of the British Welding Institute (TWI).

The group of inspectors from the VSW technical control department completed their training according to the program of the International Register of Certificated Auditors, IRCA. The VSW specialists learned about new materials and technologies for pipe coating, as well as how to avoid pipe defects.

“We are constantly improving the qualification of the specialists who work at Vyksa Steel Works. The need for additional training for our specialists was determined by the unique requirements set by the general design contractor of the sea division of the “South Stream” pipeline, the Dutch company INTECSEA B.V, for certification in pipes as well as the company’s personnel qualifications,” said Managing Director of VSW, Sergei Filippov.
